TREATMENT OF BULKY WASTE

TREATMENT OF BULKY WASTE

We recover and repurpose a percentage of bulky waste and that which remains is utilised in the production of electricity.

Our bulky waste treatment facility has an area where waste is received and classified by type: electrical appliances with and without CFC gas, electronic and computer equipment and other bulky waste. In this classification process items that can be repaired are separated from those that cannot, the first are sent to the workshop and the latter to final processing. See General diagram.

The plant has a repair workshop for electrical appliances, one for electronic and computer equipment and a carpentry workshop for furniture repairs. The final processing of the electrical appliances is carried out in the plant, valuable materials are recovered, mainly metals, and dangerous components, such as refrigeration gases (CFC), used mineral oil and electronic components, among others which are safely extracted.

Domestic CW includes furniture, electric and electronic waste, electrical appliances with CFC such as fridges, freezers, air-conditioning and electrical appliances without CFC gas such as washing machines, ovens, microwaves etc. and “brown” goods such as televisions, computers, sound and audio systems, etc.

All products we repair are sent to the points of sale at the Fundació Deixalles where they are open to purchase by the general public. Any income made from the sale of repaired furniture, appliances and electronic goods mean a lower final cost for the user.
